Being The Church

Today we challenged our church...to stop playing church, and start being the church. Perhaps in our comfort it's easy to slow the pace a bit. I was so charged after today's service. So much went on today at our church.

We launched our vision, and served coffee.
(We bought a pimped out coffee maker)

The coffee's not the point.
Getting others to serve like Christ is the point.
We launched our vision, and served coffee.

The coffee's not the point.
Getting others to be the church is the point.
We launched our vision, and served coffee.

The coffee's not the point.
Reaching those turned off by "normal" church is the point.
We launched our vision, and served coffee.

We launched our vision, and gave out hot dogs.
(We bought an uber-cool hot dog cart)

The dogs aren't the point.
Thinking outside our box to reach Wilmington is.
We launched our vision, and gave out hot dogs.

The dogs aren't the point.
Getting others to connect and relate to God is.
We launched our vision, and gave out hot dogs.

The dogs aren't the point.
Being in tune with God's heart for this city is.
We launched our vision, and gave out hot dogs.

We simply asked people to take a risk and get serving. Sign your name on the dotted line. To look around, to see them engaging Kelly, our head pastor, and see the excitement again on people's faces, as they signed up, got plugged in, met so many new faces, and were truly engaged in the kingdom process...amazing!

It's morning again at Southside. As Pastor John said, it's like taking a sip from a fire hose!
